26 January 2019 Recently I had a heart to heart with my doc as things weren't going all that well for me and I really didn't want to see another therapist. I'm not much on therapists; get more benefit talking to myself and it costs less, too! He said, "Get a project!." So, I did.
Now, the family has a project and we've all been a lot more active getting ready for the grand opening on February 1st. We're going to see if we can purge some of our collections and enjoy the benefits rather than leaving them to our heirs. Sounds like a plan, right?
I'll let you know how it goes. Meanwhile, you can help. Run on out to the Westside Antique Marketplace in Fort Worth and check us and the other vendors out!
Beer Can Chicken
Key Wind Clocks
One of my issues with collecting is that I can't have just one of anything I truly enjoy. This includes those wonderful pottery bowls for making "beer can" chicken. One of the problems I have with beer can chicken recipes is that most are outdoor / on the grill recipes. Just not my thing. So, one of the things you'll find in The Green Poodle's Attic is some of my beer can chicken cookers along with my favorite indoor Texas Beer Can Chicken Recipe, included here.
Dad spent about a decade collecting and repairing old key-wind clocks. They are beautiful. There are probably about 30 in working condition in the house and he's checking some of them out for inclusion in the store. One of the first is a Sessions mantel clock that has a lovely classical shape. I photographed the information on the interior of the clock.
I have this "thing" about people using the terms "vintage," "retro," and "antique" inappropriately. So, here's a little lesson. A little tongue in cheek, but you get the idea.
