The first cloth dolls I can remember making were back in the '80s when the Faye Wine doll patterns published by McCall's were so popular and some folks sold these finished dolls for huge sums of money.
I made quite a few and, yes, I sold pretty much all of them. But I had my own style and I wasn't greedy.
Eventually, I started wandering away from the patterns. For simple cloth dolls, like Maureen, I sketch a pattern just to make sure I get the proportions I want. The clothing is made to measure -- no patterns.
