This is my soap box, The Green Poodle's BLOG, the place where I vent, rant, express my opinions, attempt to educate, and ramble on about whatever is currently on my mind. While feedback is always welcome, please don't be disappointed if what you say has little to no effect on what I say. This is not to say that I am closed minded; far from it. I love a spirited exchange of educated opinions. However, as a wise man once said, "Opinions are like assholes. We all have them and they all stink."
I love Jackie Chan movies, mostly because he doesn't take himself too seriously and that's rare among very successful entertainers. Today, I was browsing through NetFlix and came across a movie titled "The Spy Next Door." Amazing! A must see. A good laugh and a good message.
Jackie Chan plays Bob, a Bond-like, international spy who lives in suburbia next door to a single mom of 3 difficult children ranging in age from 4 to 13. Bob and Mom begin dating and Bob wants to take things to the next level. Mom makes it clear that it's a package deal and her kids don't like him, so, no deal. Then...
Bob decides to retire. Mom leaves the kids in Bob's care for a week. And, as with all movies where spies retire, it isn't really as easy as all that. Between the kids and other spies, the week is filled with chaos and hilarity which Bob manages to rein in to no avail. Mom rejects him just as the kids are beginning to accept him.
Of course, all Jackie Chan movies have a happy ending and this is no exception. You just have to watch and see how everything comes together in the end.
